Description

Duval Street - Duval Street is Key West's main street for attractions, shopping, tours, and events. Almost every visitor to Key West finds his or her way to Duval Street eventually because there's so much going on here. The most famous bars like Sloppy Joe's and Captain Tony's Saloon are located on Duval Street. If you want something to eat, there are more restaurants packed onto Duval Street you won't have any problem finding a bit to eat, whether it's a quick snack like a smoothie, or an elegant dinner by candlelight for two. Galleries are found up and down Duval, especially towards the southern end of the street.

At night, Duval Street comes alive and the whole island seems to show up for the famous nightlife of Duval Street. Go dancing at Rick's or have drinks with a friend at any one of the plentiful bars. Go bar hopping, which on this famous street is known as the Duval Crawl. Duval Street is so packed with bars it's merely steps from bar to bar. The lower end of Duval, closer to Front Street and Mallory Square, is where the most famous bars are found, and where Key West nightlife is concentrated. This is where you will find Sloppy Joe's, Captain Tony's Saloon, Hog's Breath Saloon, The Bull & Whistle, and Rick's. Cowboy Bill's Honky Tonk Saloon is always a fun stop, with their outdoor electric bull-riding pen.

If people-watching is your thing, Duval Street is perfectly set up for this sport as well. Choose a bar or cafe with tables or stools facing the street, get your drink and sit back to watch humanity flow by. Nighttime is especially rewarding, when everyone comes out to stroll, eat, drink and shop. For this, try Caroline's, the Whistle, or a window seat at Sloppy Joe's. Tourists are just as fun to watch as the locals. When a cruise ship is in town, you never know what you'll see! Things to look for while people watching on Duval Street include crazy bicycles. Some locals have turned their creative talents onto their bicycles, resulting in freaky and beautiful bikes, often seen rolling down Duval. Some are done up in all chrome, some have feathers and fur, and some are interesting because of who is riding them. There's a man who rides wearing a viking helmet. There's a guy who rides with his parrot on his shoulder. See it all on Duval!
