South Beach - South Beach is so tiny it's not really on the radar of many visitors to Key West. It's more of an in-town diversion than a beach that you'd head for purposely. If you're on Duval Street, walk all the way to the end that's near Southernmost Point. That's going south, away from the busy end of Duval. Duval Street will just end, right next to a large Victorian mansion. You can walk out onto a small pier here. This is South Beach. It's a good spot to get a picture of the area because you can get out on the water a little bit. It's a good place to hang out and relax, since you can sit on the pier and hang your feet off and watch parasailers, windsurfers, and people lounging on the private beaches flanking South Beach. There are usually very few people here, so it's a nice contrast to busy Duval Street and the cruise ship mania that sometimes takes over the other end of Duval. The Southernmost Point area is beautiful, as well. There are some beautiful Victorian inns here that will make you wish you were staying there if it weren't for the price. South Beach is free but there is little parking and if you ride a bicycle you'll have to lock it to the gate if there's room.
